I'm Jim Hunziker, someone new to the Forum. I retired a few years ago from being a Nurse Practitioner, and decided to take up paper casting as a hobby.

I have been doing paper casting off and on for about 3 years, and am frustrated that I can't get glass-smooth castings. I am casting into smooth silicone moulds, and have tried blending the paper fiber for longer and shorter times, and diluting the pulp more or less. I dry the castings slowly (over a few days with only a fan, no heat), but nothing seems to make any difference. Any suggestions?
