Bastille Day in France / "La Fayette" Air Force Squadron / A long lasting love story

Hi all,

(More dedicated to the US members)

Tomorrow, July 14th, is the Bastille Day. As every year, there will be a military parade on the Champs-Elysées avenue in Paris and a fly-by of French Air Force planes. Among the planes that will participate in the fly-by, there is one that is worth to focus on because it reminds us that USA and France have been allied for many a time. During WW1, USA went on war against Germany only on 1917. However many US volunteers had joined up the French Air Force earlier in 1916. On April 20, 1916 a US squadron was created and named "La Fayette" squad with a Sioux Chief Head as an emblem. This squadron still exists and has celebrated the centenary of its birth this year. On this occasion, a Mirage 2000 of the La Fayette Sqd. has been given the gorgeous dressing you can see on the attached images.

Isn't it a good candidate for a repainted model?

Cheers
