Hi everybody!
I'm still assembling my twins Titanics at 1/700 scale, but meanwile I started this relaxing SSN 688 sub.
First a bit of history:
By May 2012 I discovered the paper models and wanted to do one by myself. So I choosed a simple one first, an SSN 688 class. You can see it finished in the pictures. From the start I wanted to do the ships at my own scale, and selected 1/350 for submarines and 1/700 for ships.
But I made a mistake in the design, and when I measured the result, it was at 1/383 scale (a bit smaller).
Now, with a decent fleet (two subs and six ships), this scale difference still makes me itch. So...
I corrected the drawings, removed the colors (living in Venezuela is almost imposible to find and buy a color cartridge and I like to paint) and reprinted my SSN 688. At first I planned to upgrade the ship like a 688 I (planes in the bow) but finaly I decide to let it as a 688 VLS, just "hightlighting" the Tomahawk and torpedo tubes.
So, the pictures are: two of the first "sections" composing the corrected ship, and two of the oldie at 1/383 scale. The oldie, by the way, is waiting for a new home
