hello all,
I finally put together the sanding device I had in mind. works really well so far.
bought the motor bracket and the mounting hub from a robot parts company. the pwm controller is from ebay. the rest are bits and pieces I already had.

I have been experimenting with lego bricks for a while, trying them out as jigs to hold and align parts for gluing. works pretty well as diy miter.

I would ideally make the 'table' and 'miter' from metal but I don't have a mill-yet

the lego stud spacing worked out well for the dimensions of the motor and disc. I was able to get the disc really close to the 'table'. the sanding 'face' is normal sand paper attached to the hub with 3m atg 'snot' tape.

finished item. 'squaring' really good for what I am doing though probably not by machinists standards.

I couldn't do this just by hand.

a finished part. by the way, the stock is paper/card hardened with ca.
