Sealing card stock with laser engraved details

Hello all,

I have a question.
I just received a Dom Bugami kit of the IJN Nagato in 1:200 scale. Awesome artwork.
I purchased the additional detail items, the laser etched card stock parts. It is cut on the shiney poster board stock, .012" thick.

It is not printed. These parts will go on my resin parts I have. The more detail the better.
My question is what is a good sealer so I can paint over the paper card stock parts using acrylics. I want to use Tamiya paints.

The detail is so awesome that I am afraid that any heavy build up will fill in the laser etchings. You have to see the detail it is so fine.

I am trying to avoid any swelling of the card stock from the sealer. Lacquer based acrylic would seem to work but before I try anything I need some expert advice. These parts come from Poland so replacements take long to get to me if something goes wrong.

I spoke to Krylon and they said to use 1305. I have heard that Testors dull coat would work also.

Any help I GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

SMAP Satellite Build

Hello everyone.

I've just started the design and build of the SMAP satellite model.
So far, it has proven challenging due to the design of the satellite with the
large reflecting antenna on top.

SMAP - Soil Moisture Active/Passive, is a NASA Environmental Research Satellite that measures land surface and soil moisture on a global scale to understand the Earth's water, energy and carbon cycles, as well as valuable information for the improvement of weather and climate forecasting, flood prediction and drought monitoring.

The bottom part of the satellite is almost complete.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Hello.....

I'm not New on the site,
I started in march 2015, but had much to do.
Ordered a card model R.M.S. Queen Mary 1:250 at DHGate,
but it seems it was a fake, never get the model, only a very bad copy of
Alan Rose' 'Build Your own Titanic'. Which one I have an original of.

I hope that sometimes I can get an real fleet of these wonderful ships.
And a complete harbour in scale 1:250, with trucks, trains and cranes.

Greetings,
Ron

St. Lorenz - Nuremberg - 1/250 - MTP Sudio

I have built quite a lot of cathedral kits (Schreiber, Instant Durable, Merino…). However, when unpacking this kit, the immediate feel was that it was not just another one! It represents the Nuremberg Cathedral at 1/250. The building is not as huge as Reims or Chartres but the “realistic” version of the kit has more parts then either of them: 669, spread on 7 A3 sheets with very fine printing. The kit also includes an A2 sheet with assembly drawings and a complete list of parts.
It will, for sure, keep me happy for a while. As usual on my threads, the first pictures show the kit.

Pilatus PC-7 in 1/100 Murphs Models Beat

New models of Murph's Models is a classic 1970's training aircraft, a Swiss Pilatus PC-7, used today in many Air Forces and private operators. Pretty model, the original scale is 1/24, but I reduce to 1/100...

FW-190F-1 build

Has anyone built bestpapermodels.com FW-190-F-1? I was just curious, because I'm pretty much done with my F-4E Phantom II, and wanted to start to build this model that I purchased from there.

Test Flight: Murph's Models: USMC CH-37 Mojave.

Hi all,

Aaron was willing to repaint his Army version to a USMC version of his CH-37, and I volunteered to test build the model.

I printed up the 9 pages of the helicopter, on Wausau Exact Bright White, 65 Coverstock(my standard flavor of cardstock)

as this is a test, i didn't seal the pages, but I will when I go and build it in all seriousiness.

Starting on the first sheet, i cut out and shaped and glued the greenhouse part of the cockpit

The gaps in the canopy is probably my dumb doing where I wanted the bottom of the cockpit be flush, i have seen some pictures where the bottom edge is varied

Up next was the bottom part of the nose, the loading doors are located here, but is not modeled by Aaron.
I made the decision to cut out the tabs, mainly to try the method described by Barx2, in this thread http://ift.tt/1JE6egT
I purchased 1/4 and 1/2 inch permanent adhesive dots at Amazon, to "glue up" the gores of the chin doors.

An unintended bonus was the opportunity to glue up the sides similarly to the models of Zio Prudenzio.
The parts are mirrored, so this helped me with alignment, and gave me 2 sets of tabs to glue up.

This is the end result

The cockpit and the chin were mated next

The final set of photos show the first two section of the fuselage glued up with the nose.

I have cut out the last two parts of the fuselage towards the tail, those I am keeping for when i get back to them later today on Sunday.
