I haz Crusader now - PTA Crusader

I haz Crusader now ;)

I´m still not in the mood to start anything bigger than a hand.

So the PTA models came in handy ...

One of my favourite vehicles in World of Tanks is the Crusader - thus the PTA Crusader it should be.

I choose the Mk II with the QF 2pdr gun and desert camo.

As a second option one can build the Mk III version with the QF 6pdr gun (same model, just without the gun mantlet)

I wanted to give the model some "personality" and therefore i assigned the tank to the 9th Queens Royal Lancers.

The Lancers served as part of the famous Eighth Army in the Battle of El Alamein. They formed part of the 2nd Armoured Brigade of

the 1st Armoured Division of X Corps (the Internet say´ that ...)

To add some more physical detail to the road wheels i made the solid rubber tyres as a ring layered from doubled card on top of the

rim.

Same goes for the drive wheel and the front idler. The latter also with some extra spokes.

Furthermore i cut away the rear plate of the upper hull and replaced it by separate slats.

The Mk I and II´s were delivered with the auxilliary turret and i wanted to give my Crusader that one too.

Somehow the barrels of the MG were always touching the bullet deflector on the front hull and i couldn´t place the turret properly.

So the tank goes without it.

In fact, most of these auxiliary turrets where removed in the field later on.

I removed one panel of the dust guard on the right side ... some battle damage probably ...

Still have to find some suitable wire for the antennas and other additional items.

I´m planning to add some gear like tarpaulins, jerry cans and helmets to the sides.

Maybe even making one of those camouflage sunshades which disguises the tank as a lorry ....
