Christmas Market

Here's the kit from Mondorfer.

Before I start, I thought I should explain the giant in the background!

As with my version of the wayside inn, I thought I'd include myself. I took a photo and reduced it. Because I had to reduce it to about 5% of it's original, I had to do it in stages because my printer can't reduce more than 25%. This meant I had extra pictures of myself and I'd slipped the original onto the model, in case I needed more copies. I'd cut out the figure so I didn't have to photocopy all the original background. "I" am the figure on the left, standing at my favourite stand --- the Bratwurst. Second favourite? --- the Gluwein!

So - as some of you will know, I had problems trying to print the pages and instead of printing at 71% I went for 50%. Having actually managed to print it, I decided to build the diorama at this scale!

I made a few changes, for example I used a copy of one of my photos of a Christmas market we visited a few years ago for the backdrop. I also made different lamp posts - those in the instruction photos are just thin strips of paper and I fancied thinner rounder ones. I also added a bit of smoke to the chestnut roaster! Apart from the rather small size ( about a 1/4 inch for the figures and 3/4 for the carousel) I had no problems with the fit, only my eyes.

Here are a few pictures - the part in the stencil is the small tower on the front of the café, and the numbers are in millimetres.

Cheers

Mike
