Tsyklon Launchpad

For all Paperspacefans :

The famous designer Leo Cherkashyn fomSpace in Cardmodels has 'silently' given another spacemodel, although very earthbound:

a third version of the Tsyklon-rocket Launchpad.

Paper cutter help ...... please!

Just purchased a paper cutter. Chose the Silhouette Cameo 3 over the Cricut Air 2 (tell me I made the right choice!)

What's the best way to go from PDF plans to cut project using the Basic version of the software (this will not import PDFs directly)

Any one doing this?

Do any plans sellers offer plans in other format beside PDF? Like ready to cut .gsd or .dxf?

Any bit of help is very appreciated.

Happy Birthday Ron Caudillo

Dear Ron:
Happy Birthday to you and may you just be able to make paper models all day long.
Enjoy,
Miles

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but does anyone know of a machine I can cut my paper models out with, like a printer that cuts???
Thx.

Where has gone the Shipyard company?

About this Polish company and their gorgeous old sailing vessels, no links available, except those coming from resellers, and I couldn't find their website too. Is there somebody here who knows what happened to them?

Ancient entrance, somewhere in the Pacific

I made this entrance completely from scratch(mostly cardboard), for my Type 95 Kurogane (Tamiya model). It's loosely based on Indonesian ruins.
Scale 1/48

Materials used:
-cardboard
-old grass mat
-acrylic paints
-Butapren glue (I have no idea how it is called in English, couldn't find anything)

That's all :)

Greetings from Poland!

Hi!

I'm new to this hobby but I have 4 years of experience with plastic models.
I decided to try paper models because I've always been fascinated about warships of the Pacific War(hence my nickname). Worst thing in plastic ships is painting, especially camouflages. Thankfully, paper ships are painted - that makes them really enjoyable in making. I can say that 'cause I'm currrently working on my first model, USS Ward DD-139 from JSC in 1/400 scale. Gallery soon!

I'm also the person behind the camera in some of the Zenon1947's(grandfather) galleries. He's not the best photographer. :)

Instructable contest

I did a quick search and didn't see anything posted about this so's I thought I'd mention it. Instructable is hosting a paper contest to display creative ways to work with paper... (sounds right up our alley don't it?)
First prize is a Mac airbook or cricket cnc machine.

Here's the link... (old school... couldn't figure out how to make the "link" thingy work.)

IXS Enterprise

The IXS Enterprise is one of those spaceships that I wanted to have on my desk since I first saw it. Based upon that, and talking with a few people on #themaxx (efnet) and #modelmakers (snoonet)... they convinced me to give it a go. I'm aiming for 1/96... so 64cm long.

With that said, here are the last few days of putterings from the gallery.

New Member with Space Interests

I'm thrilled to have found this site, and pleased to be able to join in the fun. I've only built a few paper models, and just completed the one attached--a Delta 7 Studio Gemini 4 in 1/24 scale. I had a blast, and look forward to learning from this community.

I grew up on the Space Coast--we moved to Indialantic Fl in October 1965 so Dad could help North American Aviation get Apollo off the ground. Those were heady days for a teenage boy to grow up!! I've never lost my love for all things space, and model building reconnects me with those memories and my family!

Thank you!!!

Hello from Romania

Thank you for getting me on your site, I'm new to papercraft, I like the models of airplanes and helicopters very much ... however I have two submarines in the project. We've found some projects that are interested in your site and I hope to try it. In attachment you find my last project.

Dayton Paper Con 2018 May 11 to 13th

based on feedback, we have a new date for our mini paper convention in Dayton.

Here are the details
  • Arrival and set up Friday May 11
  • Day 1 Group dinner Saturday May 12
  • Day 2 and finish Sunday May 11
  • Touring the Air Force museum as a group or on your own any day

Cost to rent the hall/room is $160 per day. So for 3 days it is $480 ( or rounded off to $500.

If we get 10 people, the cost per person will be approx $50 , not including food or hotel room. 20 people will bring it down to $25.

I will not make folks share the cost other than an even cost sharing to rent the hall for the 3 days. So bring as many models as you can. I will get as many tables as it take!

Questions for the poll are a repeat of the previous one. So please confirm again.

the answer is only YES to these questions. There is no NO option in the poll

1 - Will you participate/display May 11 to 13th ?
2 - Will you bring more than 10 models ?
3 - Do you need a room at the Hope hotel for your stay

Based on the previous poll, I got 13 positive or near positive responses of participation. I would like 20 positive responses knowing that there may be last minute changes.

The room can accommodate at least 20 of us displaying an average of 10 models each.

The venue is at the Hope Hotel in Dayton:
https://www.reservations.com/hotel/t...SAAEgLlRfD_BwE

The nightly guest room will probably be around $90 per night. It will be up to you to call and reserve your guest room. I will block at least 7 rooms, so PM me with your requests if you need multiple rooms.

Dinner will be a group event, but each of us will pay for our and your guest food.

I want positive responses!

Isaac

Greetings from Sunny Florida.

* 54 years old.
* Haven't worked on a model since high school.
* Lots of old plastic airplane models still in attic somewhere.
* Have recently discovered this amazing hobby of papercraft model building.
* Looking forward to building a reasonably complicated sailing ship model but will start with a 2 piece cube. :)

Hope this will be an adventure.

Mark

When is a paper model not a paper model?

Givens:

1. I am new to this forum.
2. I could't find a discussion of this elsewhere in the forum
3. My forum searching mojo is not good.
4. I know that I should make whatever makes me feel good regardless of material,

But...
When is a paper model not a paper model? For instance, tape or plastic for canopy? Balsa wood for masts? Twine for rigging? Metal axles? What mixed media are acceptable (if any)?

Is this even an issue?
I don't want to spend hours on a model just to discover I am doing it "wrong". Or at least I want to know I am doing it "wrong" for the right purpose.

Thanks ahead of time.

Designed in 1944/45, this glider is towed by bombers and transport planes for increase the range, after transfer of fuel out this glider is released. Two airframes are build to testing some concepts, the unsual configuration is form high speed modes; This model is in 1/48 scale but I reduce, is very easy to build. I made in only two hours and half, the fuse are simple tube and cones the most complicated pieces is a wings and canopy...

3 modelelos de Stahlhart

Greetings cordiales.Aqui I leave my first photos in the forum, 3 simple models of Stahlart but beautiful, nothing spectacular but entertaining.I have seen on the page that there is now option of cabins for some models which suggests a great improvement and will make more showy the models. I will add some while I try to acquire an original of Halinsky, Orlik or some other, here in Argentina it is not easy at all.
