New to the paper Model world. Question?

Hello, all, I just recieved my first two Paper model ships. The Modelik 1/200 USS Oakland, and the JSC 1/400 Edmund Fitzgerald. In the Oakland kit it has the sections that make up the frame of the hull. Are those to be copied from the prints onto heavy card, or do you use the thin paper in the kit? The pages of frame sections are not heavy paper like the rest of the kit. If I do cut it from heavy card what do you suggest I use? Thanks in advance!:)
