Salisbury Cathedral 1:240

I have now got round to preparing my 1997 model of Salisbury Cathedral for re issue. To begin with, this involves building a model so that I can photograph it, and then, using the new pictures, redesign the title page. Here are some photographs showing its progression. I have always started designing and making these models from the east end of the building and as you can see here, this model of Salisbury Cathedral conforms to that tradition. Beginning with the Lady Chapel, it progresses through the lesser transept - Salisbury is blessed with double transepts as are Beverley Minster, Worcester, Lincoln and a few other English cathedrals - finishing at this stage with the greater transepts which, with the central tower, are added as a single piece. I had wanted a cool grey card for this model but unable to get anything close to that, I have chosen instead the same tint that I used for Tewkesbury Abbey. It is not perfect and so I shall keep looking for something more suitable in the meantime.
