Quick Review : Otterbox Defender Real Tree Galaxy S4

http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-S4-De...efault,pd.html

oing to make this quick since I have a little girl sitting on my lap wanting my attention.

Nice case but bulky. Got it $20 off by demanding a price match.

My father in law swears by the defender series and my wife is fond of the commuter for her One. I had the opportunity to grab this cheaply so didn't pass it up.

I heat with wood and am often out splitting/cutting and need a case that will protect my device. It has an inner layer of protection that consists of a very snug fitting plastic she'll with an integrated screen protector. There is a rubber/plastic outer covering that offers increased shock protection.

My impression is that my phone won't suffer from scrapes and knocks this winter. While this thing is a beast of a case it isn't so large that it distracts or interferes with operations. I really like the holster which is robust and no where near feeling as if the device will fall out. Actually it'sthe opposite, Iit can be an effort to remove it.

I like the camo. I can't explain why but I like it. Not sure how it is applied to the outer she'll but I don't see it wearing off or fading. The combination of camo/black and orange is nice but I wish I would have had the option of getting the black inner shell.

It's not waterproof (in probably wish it were come first snow) but it does offer protection for the headphone and charging ports in the form of "plugs" built into the outer shell.

The only negative I had was with the built in screen protector. Being part of the inner shell it was just off the screen once snapped together. When using it would stick to the screen. I can't really explain how it looked but it was noticible. It only seems to stick where I touched in the middle of the device. My solution was simply to remove it, easy to do since it's glued in around the edges. Combined with my Phantomskinz protector it's nearly perfect.

Overall I'd give it a 4 of 5, only dinging it for that built in protection. I understand the design but feel it falls just a bit short.
