The Small World of the Great Castles

The Small World of the Great Castles

The international castle show in the Styrian volcano country

Hello friends of architecture,

Today we visited the castle show in the castle Kornberg in the southeast of Styria, it was more than worth it !!

Fantastically beautiful models of well-known castles and palaces with landscapes and lighting at night.

If you are in the vicinity, you should not miss this exhibition as a model maker.

Information about the exhibition can be found HERE
An exhibition of castles and palaces of the whole world, unique in Europe, will be opened on 03.03.2018 in the Meierhof to Schloss Kornberg. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10 am to 6 pm!
15 models and 2 historical battles immerse you in a unique miniature world. The locks are replicated on a scale of 1:75 and 1: 100, whereby the smallest details of the architecture, the décor and the landscape are reproduced in astounding accuracy.

SPECIAL LIGHT EFFECTS
allow a view by day, at night and at dawn. The lighting of the castles offers such a fascinating spectacle. The battles are detailed with hundreds of hand-crafted figures.

SPECIAL GUIDES
or audioguides in 6 languages offer more than 2 hours of interesting stories, legends and myths.

In addition, there are many 3D images and surprises for interesting photos. Amazing facts about the history of the castles and their lives round off the exhibition.

Right in the entrance area is a diorama of the Battle of Kahlenberg - Austria.
As you can see in the background, there are even the cardboard models of UMBUM to buy, these are graphically very nice but quite simple plug-in models.
The dioramas are very detailed designed and act properly moved.

The models were built by a Slovenian and a Russian model maker, it is supposedly already the next models in work, so the exhibition will then be enlarged.

Hello from new member!

Hello everyone! I just joined the forums! I came to paper models from model rockets. I believe I was looking for online plans for a Nike Hercules MR (which I found) and found paper versions by Ton Noteboom (who's website has since gone dark). I tried those models but didn't get far since the tube and cone forming flustered me at first. I backed up and made a couple of space exploration craft, which slowly introduced me to those concepts. I have now restarted the Nike Hercules (that's my business travel model) and the Falcon X Heavy. When I'm done with those I'll probably do a US Gemini and an Saturn 1B rocket of some sort.

They tips and tricks I've found here have been great.

Halinski - Polikarpov I-16 type 24

Hello!

This is well-known kit from Halinski. I tried my best, but result is medium to my opinion.
Google album with big final photos - https://photos.app.goo.gl/cRma1REUP8kr43tu2
WIP album - https://goo.gl/photos/yiHHUN9VRqMvDyLk7

Some notes about assembly:
I started at May 2017 and have finished just now, March 2018. I was unable to fix the known hard place with loose space at the bottom. Joints between sections are too visible. I made a lot of accidental drop of paints and glue over wings.
I added some extra details to landing gear in order to convert to type 24 (Halinski provide type 18, but prototype was type 24)

Bachem Ba-349 "natter" by S&P 1/100

A "quick build" is the Bachem Ba349 "natter". this is one of Bruno's early Gen 1 models. It didn't have a landing gear and came in a demo color scheme that was set up after the war. I recolored it to a more probable operational scheme, but built the original along side. I left the nose cone off to show the rocket armament in the nose. The "theory" behind this craft was to launch it in a vertical rail like launcher, powered by an internal reusable ramjet, and 4 booster rockets to get it to altitude. The fuselage/wing structures were simple throwaway parts, the ramjet being the primary recoverable part, along with the pilot. the controls were locked in takeoff position the unlocked at altitude, the rockets would separate, the nose cone blown off exposing the forward firing rockets and the pilot then piloted the craft to the bombers. he would fire at one then aim the craft at another bomber and ram it. then the craft would plummet downward, spilling the pilot out, hopefully parachuting to the father land while the rest of the craft would parachute down to have its ramjet recovered.

Strange bird behaviour

Saw this the other day.
A bird alighted on the ground at the foot of some stairs. They were external stairs with three landings. The bird hopped up the stairs to the first landing, made the turn on the landing while still hopping, hopped up the next set of stairs to the second landing, jumped up onto the top hand rail of that landing then flew to the side of the building and clung to the bricks in an upside down orientation. It looked around for a few seconds then flew off.
Hmmmmm.

Alan Rose's The 1984 Paper Corvette

Hi all,

Yes you read it correctly, I will attempt to build the 1984 Corvette designed by Alan Rose.

Yes I am aware that it only a 60% car, and a curbside style model, and I am totally fine with that.

Just in case if you were wondering, I have two copies of the Corvette, one in my Alan Rose collection, and one to be built as part of my Corvette collection.

This copy of the kit, the one being built, is in somewhat rough shape, scratches and on the windshield the print has cracked.

If you are familiar with the kit, you know that there are two sets of backgrounds, one a blue grid on white with a Red and Black Corvette title in the right corner, and a green and black Corvette in the top right corner of the Los Angeles basin at dusk. Interesting fact here, you can only pick one background over the other, I am thinking magnets and washers will come in to play for me to display and move the model around when done.

I did notice that the kit is stapled multiple times, every 4th or 5th sheet, I noticed this as I was disassembling the book, you are looking for 5 staples to be removed.

Instructions in the book are labeled Steps A through X, and there are some 5 pages of historic information and photos to go along with the kit.

I guess I will start scoring and cutting over the weekend, so progress updates will follow

Canon Sagrada Familia

Just completed the Canon Sagrada Familia yesterday. Not sure of the scale but did print it to fit on 12" x 18" card stock instead of Letter.

This is the second Sagrada I've built. the first one was the Japanese version (1:300 scale) built in 2013. Last 2 photos show a side-by-side comparison. Haven't decided yet, but may do the Domus version next.

Just 32 seconds and it was gone. The live broadcast from Herbert Morrisson was the same day on the radio in the whole US and became legendary.

You can find a lot of the history of this ship on the WWW.
