After a number of years of starting but not being able to complete a build, I've finally bought something that's had my interest for years - Delta 7 Studios Blue Gemini Rescue Craft that I'm sure I can finish. It's mainly just tubes, cones and truncated cones so it looks fairly simple.
I have their Gemini Capsule Disk which I build one scaled up to 1/12 many years ago and loved it.
This Rescue Vehicle will be scaled up from 1/24 to 1/16. I'd love to do it at 1/12 but just don't have the physical and mental capacity to piece together parts that would have to be split up.
I've ordered the paper I want to use, 19" x 13" Epson Ultra Premium Matte paper, Heavyweight and it should be here next week.
Currently I've just been importing the parts pages into Adobe Illustrator and scaling them up. Also printed out a set of the directions so I can read, study and plan in the mean time.
I am very excited about building this. I've been lurking with just the occasional support comment for about 3 years and it's been killing me to watch all the great models being built and presented by everyone. I have longed to get back to it.
I noticed Dan changed his business model (not sure how long ago he did this), but now you only buy the particular model you want, you no longer have to purchase the whole disc. I find this great because money is somewhat tight, and the model is sent with a download link. Much faster and more convenient. I thank Dan for making this change.
I do ask one request for input from the group, however. The picture on the D7S site shows the rear of the craft looking very red with maybe a hint of orange to it. The model file shows the rear section with a very decidedly orange cast/color to it. I prefer the red but would like it to be as was proposed. Wondering if I should bring those two parts into Photoshop and up the red in them. It's a little strange because in the D7S photo, the thruster boxes do appear to be a little on the orange side.
I'd appreciate thoughts or opinions, especially if anyone has built this model. Since it was never actually build maybe it's a moot point and I can do it as I want.
First picture is from the D7S site, second picture is a screenshot from my computer. I know different papers, printers, monitors will produce different results but I do say honestly that what appears on my screen is aout 97% in tune with what comes out of my printers.
