Fiskars Softgrip Detail Knife

Hi all,

Is anyone using this knife?
Softgrip® Detail Knife

Have you had issues with the orange grip?
mine has started to ride up the shaft of the knife
I am thinking about replacing it with a pencil grip/cushion
has anyone done the same thing? what is your verdict?

Rick

Thanks

Thank you for accepting me to the group.
I am looking for inspiration to get back into paper modeling and some witty repartee, friendship and motivation.

Korean War USN carrier based jets question

Saw an old Korean War movie where they were launching what looked like F9F Panthers from an aircraft carrier. The stars playing the Naval Aviators had the aircraft canopies open, goggles up on their helmets, and their oxygen masks hanging to one side during the catapult launch and while forming up, I guess to better show their purty faces.

To me that does not seem very likely during actual carrier launches and is more in line with the usual movie making BS you see a lot.

Did they ever launch jets in that configuration - canopies open with bare faced aviators?

Sport Deck net

I must build a considerable Tennis court on the Sport deck of Cap Arcona. All the nice plasic tea-bag nets are too short. Does anybody have an idea for an alternative?

Card Fleet No.7 American Somers class destroyer USS Somers DD-381

Not in chronological order but we just published our new model. This time it's the American destroyer USS Somers DD-381 as she was when commissioned in June 1938. This model is extremely difficult with very detailed elements but the final effect should satisfy every enthusiast of US Navy. Cost 12GBP.We also have metal barrels set, mast pole with boat bumpers and photo-etched parts with safety nets on very thin (0.1mm) so called "new silver" sheets. Below a front cover and PE parts with General Arrangement assembly drawing. Issues no.4,5,6 should be ready later this year. I hope you will enjoy!

WW1 / 1917 / French Aerobatic Team Patrouille de France / Official U.S. Schedule

Hi all, (and to the attention of the Canadian and US fanatics of airplanes and airshows)

As a reserve officer in the French Air Force I am glad and proud to let you know that, for a month and a half, the Aerobatic Team «*Patrouille de France*», flag of the F.A.F., will travel the United States to commemorate the centenary of their entry into the war during WW1. More details on the «*Patrouille de France*» scheduled shows are available in the attached links. You will notice that , on this occasion, the planes are given a dressing that mixes the French flag and the American flag, having the same basic blue, white and red colors helps a lot*! I hope that many of you will have the opportunity to attend and enjoy the shows.
Please, pass on the information to the friends of yours who are (or not) fanatic of airplanes and aerobatic shows.
Thanks a lot and have a nice day.

USS Arizona build

Hi all,

I'm new around here, so what better way to introduced myself then with my first build. Well not really my first, I've been building models of all sorts since I was a small child. Paper is relatively new to me, I've built a few aircraft, F-35, F/A-18C, the USS Enterprise from paperhobby. But, being from Arizona, and being retired navy, I've always had a soft spot for BB-39. So without further ado, here is night 1 progress on my USS Arizona. All printing complete, wife said I needed a new printer, so this was a good excuse. I printed the hull pieces on card stock, then used spray glue to glue them to poster board. Keel laid, some cross members in place. Looks like she's gonna be a little over 30 inches long when complete.

Astaroth Gundam

Completed the Astaroth Gundam. This is the first time I used a white laser printer toner to print out decals. While it's not as bright as white stickers, I really prefer printing decals compared to sticking them on.

Pardon the large images :)

BF ME 109 F4 in 1/48 scale by Kampfflieger

Giving my 1/250 scale navy a break. I have decided to make another Kampfflieger model from my stash of printed models I had stored for some years. The paper and ink has survived the years of storage quite well. My printing however is undersized. This model is about 1/54 scale rather then a true 1/48 scale. No bother.

Fentens Australia

Already being a satisfied customer of Fentens Germany I was overjoyed to hear that Ben Fenten had opened a store in Brisbane, Australia.

On Thursday night I placed my first order with Ben and true to his word it was posted on Friday.

It was sitting on my bench (in Tasmania) by lunchtime Monday.

Thanks Ben, top service mate.

I hope the Aussie modelers,as well as our paper cutting brothers over the Tasman get behind you and support our local supplier.

Think I might do a kit review on the Otway lighthouse and maybe a build thread. Looks great.

Cheers.
Clive.

Game Over Man - Bill Paxton has died.

Bill Paxton IMDB

I first saw him in Weird Science and that sort of set his goofball image in my mind. His role in Aliens did not help much even though that 'Game over man, game over' line gets a workout sometimes. Some of his later roles kind of changed my mind to a more favorable attitude even though those roles mentioned earlier keep creeping in. Only 61 when he died.

a great video

for those interested in the thunderbolt

shows how 50 men can upack a plane from its shipping crates and assemble it using only manpower in the field

if you're interested in the "insides" of things as i am, it is a great show

Richard Vyškovský 2009 Tribute Page

http://ift.tt/2lZgZpj

At the bottom of the page are pictures of dozens of the wonderful paper models Mr. Vyškovský designed that we cannot get:confused:.

Ely Cathedral: first stage completed.

All of the main components of this new design are complete. Now that I have glued the model to its base and added the 'grass' I shall start the long process of drawing and testing the buttresses and pinnacles. Anyway, here are some progress photos: I hope you like the design so far. At the moment, I am trying to find a card whose colour is something like the stone colour of Lichfield, Hereford, Chester and any other sandstone-built cathedral in England. Not easy. My next model cathedral will probably be another pale one and so that means one of these: Lincoln, Chichester, Norwich, Winchester or Saint Albans. I fancy doing a small one so I shall probably do Chichester, especially as I have family near there who can put me up for a while.

Boeing P-8A in 1/72 scale

Today I've out into Download section another new plane in 1/72. It is new anti-submarine plane Boeing P-8A Poseidon from US Navy, VP-45 Pelicans. The basic pattern of model is B-737 model from modeller Štefíno I've been using in the past for my 737 recolors. Now I've rescale it into 1/72 and redraw into P-8 shape.
This model is simple in details, but looks nice, I guess. Hope you'd like it!

Beginner question

Hi all,

Newbie to the forum and I have a general question. I have been interested in gothic architecture for some time now and recently came across some paper models of various gothic cathedrals. I have never built a paper model before but would like to try.

We are moving into a new house soon and my wife seems to think that we would not have enough room for me to build one of these. So my question to other is how much space do you actually need to work on a model? I know this is pretty vague, but just trying to get an idea of if I would have enough room to sit a desk off to the side somewhere to work on one of these.

CSS Tennessee 1:800

Hello everybody,
I would like to show you me little gallery of the CSS Tennessee in 1:800. Originally published in 1:200 by Heinkelmodels. The model is 8 cm long and I haven't taken many photos as the ones I took show it all.
I got it from Kazziga, who asked me to build it for him. He will get it the next time we meet.

Buzz Aldrin and Ken's paper model

Buzz apparently has been not as careful as he should have been, I guess.. This was my first post on Google+ today.

I hope he'll be using the right glue.. Oh well, he's an engineer.
