Hello from Germany

I'm building paper-models since 5 or 6 years. I prefer ships and architecture.

Hope to find new and interesting models on this site.

Hello

I'm excited to join this forum. I am a special education teacher in a high school and I have recently added a "planet-making" exercise as part of an astronomy unit. I look forward to seeing how else paper modeling can be used in my teaching. Maybe they need a "Star Wars" model-making unit next:)

Hello !

Hello everyone from Moravia, Czech Republic.

Construction of paper model is really nice hobby. I prefer architectural models.

My first model

Hello :-) I start to build the second Star Destroyer model using that assembly technique found on the net. But this time, I'm using cardboard with a specific size and thickness and using this, my final star destroyer will look like a real assembled spaceship, I hope, not like my first first model assembled from one size cardboard. And I wish to paint this with some colors too giving some effects for my ship. I'm still thinking what kind of material use for the radar devices, because it's a little hard to assemble something like that from paper :-) And i'm thinking to use some kind of plastic balls :-) And my final ship will be A4 size, so it's not negligible :-)

If you wish to start building models from cardboard you need to start build from A4 size, not really worth it to build something smaller, because parts attached to the ship are becoming smaller and you have trouble bonding and to keep them in hand :-)

This is my second model build by me, long time ago I build some kind of flying saucer from cardboard and then I lost this somewhere :-) Later I wanted to build the Enterprise, but I cancelled my project, because I couldn't found any description :-)

In supermarket I could buy different spacecraft models for assembly from parts, but they are expensive, so not worth the effort. It's much more fun to build a ship using cardboard, glue and scissors :-)

I can found much cheaper to assembly aircraft's, but these do not interest me :-) only spaceships :-)

Photos later :-)

Dear Gerry1966:

May you have a good birthday today and just be able to make paper models all day long.

Murph's Models - Miles M.39B Libellula

This is a wings-back puller from Aaron. The original scale should be 1/25, measuring

27 cm (about 11 in) in length. This model I'm building is 1/36, 19 cm (7.5") long.

Wing span of model: 46 cm (18.1") if 1/25 and 32 cm (12.5") if 1/36.

The plane is slightly over half way done. When it comes to the engine nacelle,

there's a slight yellow patch that I'm not sure if it's by design or a slip. Would

Aaron please comment.

Question about a B-17F markings

I have a family connection with a particular B-17F from the 303rd BG, 358th BS, Molesworth, England named "Hell Cat" , 1Lt Oran T. O'Connor commanding, lost Jan 23, 1943. The nose art was the name.

Attachment 209031

The only numbers I can find are:

#41-24580

Group: 303BG

Squadron: 358BS

Sq Code: YF

I have not been able to find listing with the A/C Code.

Are these the numbers and letters that would have been found painted on the tail and fuselage and if so how would they have looked?

The aircraft was shot down by enemy fighters on Mission #11, 23 Jan 1943 to Lorient, France. It went down in the region between Brest and the coast ditching in the Bay of Biscay. The family connection is the ball turret gunner Sgt. Clinton Fincher, who eventually wound up in Stalag 17B.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Murph's Models Kyushu J7W1 Shinden in 1/100 scale

Hi my friends!

I show another of "pusher series" of Mruprh's Models, at this time is a gracefull and interesting Kyushu J7W1 Shinden, this plane is one of most interesting World War II prototype plane, because the configuration. Murph's Models release this plane in big 1/30 scale , but I reduce for my 1/100 collection, the only modification: I add weight in the nose.

The mode fit very well beside a complex air intakes shape.

Best regards my friends! :)

Project Dropship 1:24 / Aliens

Hi again fellow papermodellers/builders/designers,

It is 1.5 years since u.s.s.Sulaco was finished and I needed a break from all ALIENS things.

12 years ago I´ve builded a Dropship from Derrin Proctors 3D model made by Halcyon plastic kit. The paper model was horrible and I cancelled the development of this iconic ship for one year.

Derrin´s 3D model is still around in the internet and you can download it in various formats. Every second dropship you will google is based on his project.

In 2003 I ve created my own AutoCad 3D model that i liked and...after that (2005) I´ve constructed the cockpit only...that was the last thing I did for the dropship.

__________________________________________________ _______

NOW i thing is the right time to reopen my project of the

1:24 scale UD-4L Cheyenne Utility Dropship

Well...This time it will be little bit different. If you look into internet, you will find few modellers who designed their dropships by themselves.

Sometime better sometimes less better according to released reference materials.

Derrin Proctor´s 3D dropship.

Halcyon model kit

and finally ..one of the movie props

Thre are so many differences, from the model props and 1:1 studio installed Dropship in the movie, trough official model kit from Halcyon to each modelers around the world....SO..

I´ve decide to go my way. There will be no such movie 100% accurate model, (it can´t be done anyway) but it will be dropship trough my eyes. I want to make fully moveable model - front legs, rocket pods, rear leg, wings....

Where is no reference material, no detail (like engine intakes) or some ugly thing or movie dropship and movie prop not match -> then is time for my inovation :)

...it will be long way trip..specially with the 3d model development....so be patient

I started wit my 11 years old model and thinking about the moveable parts:

moveable leg - optimalized for papermodel
