Seidio is always pretty quick to update their line of cases for the latest and greatest devices. I was anxious to wrap my new Note 3 in some protection and was very happy they got a couple of my favorite cases out in the nick of time!
First up is the simple, yet sophisticated styling of the Seidio SURFACE with Metal Kickstand Combo case and holster.
The old adage goes, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” and Seidio takes that to heart with most of its line of cases. The Surface is no exception, and really, once you’ve got something down, why change it? It’s a simple two-piece design, with the familiar soft-touch coating that slides snugly into place over your device, holding it firmly and protecting it from drops and scratches without adding excessive bulk. The inside of the case is felt-lined for added protection while the case is applied or removed.
There are precision cut-outs for easy access to all the controls, the ports, speakers and camera. If there was one thing to complain about with this design, it would be that the placement of the cut-outs on the sides of the case can make the controls difficult to use. It feels a little awkward trying to get your finger placement just right to adjust the volume or turn the device off or on. Other than that, the case just fits and works as intended.
And ya gotta love the kickstand, especially on a larger device like the Note. I subscribe to an app that sends me weekly inspirational and personal development videos. The kickstand allows me to watch those videos perfectly and easily. The kickstand collapses and stores away easily thanks to the attached magnet that holds it in place on the back of the device.
I’ve often said that Seidio’s design of its holsters is one of, if not THE best designs out there. Since the Note is such a big device, I don’t often wear the holster, but I do during the week, back and forth to work. The holster is designed to place the device face-in, so it’s felt-lined to keep your screen free from scratches. The spring-loaded top clip is my favorite feature since it allows for easy access of the device, as well as making it very easy to attach the device to the holster. You can also adjust the belt clip to seven different positions.
The Seidio SURFACE with Metal Kickstand is available in five colors: Black, Garnet Red, Amethyst, Royal Blue and Turquoise, and retails for $54.95.
Next up we have what is probably my favorite Seidio case, the DILEX series. DILEX is an updated moniker for the ACTIVE series case, which provides extra shock-absorbing protection with its two interlocking layers. Again, the design is such that it adds minimal bulk to an already large device while offering the protection you need and want.
The interior piece of the case is made from impact-absorbing polymer. There are cut-outs for the S-Pen, and for the headphone and charging ports, while the controls for power and volume are accessed by raised buttons built into the polymer shell. The polymer also has well-placed grips on both sides of the case to make handling easy and comfortable.
The exterior skeleton snaps into place over the interior piece and adds extra protection at the impact points. The skeleton contains a cut-out for the camer, and also houses the handy metal kickstand I described above for the SURFACE case.
The DILEX with Metal Kickstand Combo is available in the same colors as the SURFACE, but also adds white as a color option. Price is also the same as the SURFACE combo, coming in at $54.95.
Both cases provide the quality we’ve come to expect from Seidio, and I’m happy to once again have the opportunity to review these fine cases. Please see the image gallery for both cases below the review.
For more info on these cases, go to www.seidioonline.com. Seidio looks to be expanding their line somewhat, so stay tuned for further reviews on additional cases.
