This model Represents the Boeing B-17E, serial 42-9043, named "Peggy D" which was assigned to the 342nd Bomb Squadron of the 97th Bomb Group. Peggy D was one of twelve B-17s which flew the 8th Air Force's first heavy bomber mission on August 17, 1942 to the Rouen/Sotteville marshalling yards in France.
