Hello friends,
I have become side-tracked again! The WW1 competition at my local model club was postponed 'till next month due to a double booking of the venue. Anyway, I thought that this would be an excellent opportunity to add to my diorama. Something small, in context and quick to build. And so I chose Wayne's most excellent little kit of the Whippet, courtesy of the Landships II forum.
This has been re-scaled to 1/48th scale to match the Gun Carrier and printed out on A3, 210 gsm stock. This gives a suitable rigidity for up-scaling, however, I have made some extra bulkheads to provide extra strength. The build differs from Wayne's method in that I have removed all of the tabs and replaced these with the bulkheads.
On with the show. I embossed all of the rivet detail for the parts for the track sponsons. These were then laminated to a sheet of 160 gsm card, which brings the total thickness for these parts to 0.5 mm, before cutting out.

Mud shutes and gussets double thickness.

The mud shutes and internal formers are attached. The gusset plates have to be cut-down somewhat due to the incorporation of the extra formers.

Stay tuned.
Bernie
