My newest arrival;
This model contains HMS Sheffield<type 42 destroyer> and Atlantic Conveyor<ro/ro container ship/provisional aircraft carrier>Both ships were used during the Falklands campaign in 1982.
Model details are
HMS Sheffield-length 315mm,556 parts
Atlantic Conveyor-length 530mm,417 or 561 parts depending on version
plus a further 769 aircraft parts
Both models are at 1;400 scale.
Atlantic Conveyor can be built in a choice of two versions,either civilian container ship or in converted version in her role as provisional aircraft carrier which includes parts for helicopter pads and an airwing of harriers,wessex,chinnok and lynx helicopters.The model also contains complement of containers.
Laser cut parts are also availible for these models.
The model contains 10 pages of written instructions in english and polish,10 pages of construction diagrams and 18 pages of parts.Instructions are clear and concise.Cover is from painting by polish maritime artist.
The hull construction uses JSC normal method of longitudal beam and both ships are waterline
This set should please many different ship modeler as it contains container ship,destroyer plus the option to convert container ship to aircraft carrier.Plus would be of interested to anyone studying Falklands war
The real ships;
Atlantic Conveyor was lost along with 12 crew on 25th may 1982 after being hit by 2 exocet missiles fired from argentine super etendard aircraft
HMS Sheffield was lost on may 4th 1982 after being hit by exocet again fired from super etendard with the loss of 20 crew
