This is another model I wasnt going to post, but it was an interesting build so I thought Id throw it out there. This is Paragons kit bash of the U.S.S. Nelson. Its based off Makinos Enterprise with customized parts. This was printed and cut out a long time ago and as such it didnt really match how I build these models now. It also came off my old printer that had some color and registration issues. But, it was there and I had taken the time to redo the hull markings and registries, so I decided to slap it together. The only other extra steps I took was to do some raised details, recess the grills on the pylons, I had to create a piece to fill the hole between the impulse engines, and I had to use a PDMcCool pylon to attach the torpedo launcher as one wasnt included. I only had one front view of the model to work from, so engine placement was a best guess. Later, I found some pics that show the engines are supposed to attach to the pylons on their bottoms instead of their sides.
Overall, this is a bad build by me. The ship is badly skewed to the sides and the large deck on top came out twisted. Again, it laid on the desk for a long time and I would do a much better job if I were to build another, but I wont because Im not a fan of this design. I like the elongated Oberth-style engines, but I dont get the rest of it. Im not sure what its function would be. Thats not a knock on Paragon, thats just a personal preference. Anyway, she makes for an interesting post. I wont be posting build details, Im just putting up the pictures.
First up, the primary hull and neck.
