I just discovered that Union Pacific is busy working on a working 1:1 scale model of a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy:
UP: Big Boy No. 4014.
That's gotta be the coolest thing I've heard this century so far. I know where I wanna take my next vacation (when depends on when it starts moving under it's own power).
Watch some of the videos of it being moved (By locomotives 4014 and 4884...somebody knows what they're doing). Just watching the drivers and connection rods is poetry in motion.
