By chance, Trying else on the internet, I found an interesting thread in the forum of the magazine Woodenboat .
I liked the shape of the canoe and the idea of building a paper prototype , and I got the desire to build a model , taking the opportunity to try out some techniques for planning and design for future new projects.
After drawing the canoe in Sketchup , I 've exported to Pepakura , and then I used PDO tool developed by Imcold .

After I rounded profiles of the parties in Inkscape , and I tried to reproduce the texture of the wood, following the instructions I found in a blog.

So I switched to a realization "quick and dirty". The model came out well as forms but the texture of the wood is not satisfactory and too dark.

I did some test trying to get closer to the appearance of wood in some photographs of canoes and the second attempt seems to me the best.

I had fun and I learned a few things and I hope you enjoyed it too.
I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Easter .
Bets, Nando :)
