CASTLE LIPNICE (Lipnitz) 1/250 (erkoTYP / Prague 2010/2011 Richard Vyškovský)

Undoubtedly one of Richard Vyškovský's most remarkable cardmodel designs is
CASTLE LIPNICE (Burg Lipnitz) and belongs to his later
work recognizable by art and style of the technical design and the very
attractive artwork both looking very attractive and close to reality.

The castle is located in the highland part (Bohemia/Moravia) of the Czech Republic.
It's construction begun in the early 14th century assigned by
Raimund of Lichtenburg and received several changes in ownership as well as
architectual extensions and re-designs. The most important modifications were those in the
renaissance style in the mid of the 16th century.
At the end of the Thirty Years' War the castle was partly demolished by
swedish troups (mercenaries).
In the mid of the 19th century most parts of the castle were demolished
by a fire, which leaves the castle uninhabited since then.
The ruins received first protection tasks in the early 20th century but serious
re-contruction tasks were not undertaken before the 1970ties and 1980ties.
For example the three-storey main building (palas) is still mostly a ruin without roof and glass-less windows.
Today the castle is utilized as a museum and for touristic purposes.
