1/72 Douglas Skystreak recolor (FG)

I've been wanting to build the Fiddler's Green Douglas Skystreak for a year or more, but the solid color fuselage put me off - I didn't want to burn up one of the primaries on my tri-color cartridge for one model. On the kit's information page, there are a couple of photos of the Skystreak in NACA livery, which is mostly white with crimson control surfaces, and a yellow band on the vertical stabilizer. I decided to recolor the B&W version in this livery, and have sent the file to Scott Fyn to see if he's interested in including the recolor in the versions folder.

I was planning on building it entirely at this weekend's Army Heritage Days event in Carlisle, PA, but I couldn't resist and got a head start. So far the basic fuselage has been built. It's made up of 7 major segments with a few additional parts thrown in for good measure. Rather than overlapping the segments as designed, I made use of internal glue strips for a smoother look. The fit was perfect overall, and the panel alignments are spot on. Very impressive design work by Vladimir Muravskiy.

Here's a couple of photos of what I've done so far. Not very impressive looking - it's just a tube that narrows at the front and back, but it is nice and straight.
